Excite Bots: Trick Racing
« on: April 21, 2009, 09:40:06 AM »
This new Wii game seems nifty. It's a game based off of Excite Truck, but it has many more features and things you can do. There are 12 robots you can choose from, and most of them take the shape of a bug. There is the frog, mantis, ladybug, bat, and I think a few others that you start with. This game has many wacky stunts you can pull off, like getting a soccer ball that's on the track into a goal, hitting bowling pins on the track to try to earn a strike, throwing darts into boards, and others to score massive points. This game has WFC and a different mode, Poker Race, which you have to try to get cards to get a good set. The layer witrh the best sets wins. This game has many things you can do in, and this game, unlike Excite Truck, runs at a faster rate of fps. This game runs 60 fps, while Excite Truck runs 40 (I believe.) This game just got released yesturday, too. I am going to get this game as soon as I can, because it just seems darn fun.

Not interesting to me as the design and gameplay just seems too....meh.

I'll just wait for F-zero Wii.

Hmm... Let me figure that out.

Pros:
It has a different gameplay style than most other racing games.
It has WFC.
It is pretty funny to play. (SUPER SANDWICH FTW)
The makers have implemented a few Excite Truck tracks into it.
You can change colors of your insect/animal robot.
There is Poker Race, where you try to make pairs of cards by driving over them for points.
Awesome graphics.
Fast pased for more fun.
As the name states, there are many tricks you can do on the ground and in mid-air.
Powerups, such as the ground changing thing like in Excite Truck, and your insect can grow a pair of legs to stomp around in.

Cons:
Only 12 robots.
Easily hackable with Homebrew, almost exactly the same with MKWii (Although they do have error code 62020 or w/e it was to block)
Online mode doesn't seem too great.
As far as the game looks, it looks like it can have many glitches.
It's new as of now, so there aren't many people playing it and not many codes/secrets/glitches/etc out.
Only one play style (Sideways Wii remote/Wii wheel)

This list will be updated frequently.

Pros:

fast
pretty good online
minigames
tracks are large
high flying game play
lots of options
Well done controls
Graphic superiority to alot of games in the wii library.

Cons:

they're freaking bugs and animals.
ugly menus
ugly music
no use of SD card music(like in Excite Truck)
Lack of level variety
few racers
no Wiispeak
only 2 player splitscreen
Single player experience will be a tad more grinding, as they will have to work harder by themselves when most people will be betting online.
Fist with a ring on it.

UPDATE!!! I got this game two days ago, and I truely love it. It is defenantly worth the 40 bucks, or with wii wheel, 50. If anyone likes Racing games, trick games, Excite games, F-Zero, or anyone who's anyone would like this game. There is so much things to unlock to keep you pretty busy, I'm half way through the game, (Working on Super Excite mode), but I only unlocked one vehicle so far! I really can't wait untill I unlock the crystal cup and see how that long track comes out to be! This game takes practice at first, but you will get the hang of it and trick like there's no tomarrow. (Seriously, I landed a 2440 degree spin!) The online mode is where you get almost all your stars from, because you can actually place a bet on a person while spectating, and get up to 5x the ammount you bet on depending on the place he/she comes in. If you ever get the game, I would prefer you to start as a frog at first to get used to controls, and then move on to the bat, which is a lot faster paced then the frog. Oh yes, I have earned a super sandwich, take that TF2!

UPDATE!!! Woah, how did this kill General Discussion? Nobody posted in GD after I posted this... well, anyway, if you are thinking that this'll be a crappy game, that's fine with me.  But, so far, this game has a rating of 9/10 from a few reviews on GameFAQS. I am oing to check a few other game sites and see what they have.
