I prefer picking Splash Woman first instead of Galaxy Man, who most people pick.

Sorry to spoiler tag that Articuno X, but I felt it was required to save people from having the boss fight ruined for them.  I played the game you compared it to and know exactly what you're referring to, so I'm sure other people could make the connection too.
All these spoilers make me want this game even more though. ;-;
