Actually Mr Mister, Thwomps would be a nice addition outside of Survival mode, too.  You could set them as platforms much like you did with the Thwimps.  Sure, they won't work quite like they did in Super Mario World, but neither do the Thwimps.  It may not seem like the greatest idea to put stuff like that into maps, but you can never underestimate the creativity of mappers! :D

Heh, heh. Seconded. But the thwomp graphics are half a tile too small, so collision detection could be a problem.
I\'m desperately seeking "any key" to continue...

If it's half a tile short of being the full 32, divide that 8-pixel gap between the top and bottom, so the empty space doesn't seem to take up as much of the tile.

I wonder WHERE this is featured currently, too...
Anyways MrMr, i downloaded the special edition and i have got to say i like it. As Tanuki mentioned, the spitting Piranha plants arn't really changed and this makes me sad. The music for bonus themed stages isn't great either, it's just the starman one.
However the mod is cool though, thumbs up =)

I was actually referring to the piranha plants that jump out of pipes in Super Mario World and shoot fireballs (those plants are 16x16/32x32 iirc, not lengthy ones but those piranha plant "heads", if you wish), I think it'd be nice to add those to a tileset so they can be used in a similar way as the pumpkin heads in that one map MrMr made.

2009 UPDATE

Well, it's been a LONG time since SMWarld SE was released and now I have some news for you.
This "Gold" version of Super Mario Warld will be released in the coming months with more content and a few aesthetic changes.
Hope you enjoy it as it will include the full release, the expansion, and the new content, all in a single ZIP.

Also, if you post any content here after this post, I will put you in this final re-release.

See you soon.

Okay so, this world + small gfx pack is based around the first four VIPPER Super Mario World hacks (see http://vip.rgr.jp/sm4wiki/). You might have ran into them but they're usually all over the place without any sort of links to their wiki. People are honestly incapable of using a japanese -> english translator and it's terrible >:

I claim no credit for the sprites at all since all I did was just rip them, fyi, all credit to the VIPPERs

map-wise they're all based around levels from all four hacks, regardless the mislabelled name of the world

The world is 16 maps long iirc, so go ahead. You are required to participate since the bots won't be able to not be idiots on some maps

if you tried this earlier due to me dropping it in irc, this one is updated but still uses the same link, so refresh your cache or w/e and download it again if you must (hint hint 4matsy)

Screenshots:

The gfx pack isn't completely complete by the by, as a note if you want to use it apart from the world. Most obvious when you play stomp mode and are playing with some of those winged creatures

Hi all! :)

Just really quick I'd like to let you all know that I'll be unleashing the FINAL RELEASE OF SMWARLD. This will be a "complete" version with, to the best of my ability, everything a fan of Super Mario World could ever hope to see in a SMW mod. I hope you will all enjoy the final, and I mean FINAL, version of my very first mod, that has had a life span totaling 2 years, when it is released this weekend.

Thanks and I hope you continue to enjoy my mod.
