Sgraff's Backgrounds & Skins

Well here is my first try at photoshop colored/drawn backgrounds.

Nice background, how do you get the blur affect, I think I know how using Layer Styles, but idk

Gaussian Blur in the Filters toolbar. It is pretty simple.

That really hurts my eyes, no offense. It would be better if you got rid of the blur.

The blur makes it seem like its a picture in distance..

You know what... you should make a background with a blur and the closer up objects (in a new layer) and don't blur it, it make an awesome effect..

I did have less of a blur on the closer objects. Just didn't come out that noticeable. If I didn't have a blur it would just come out as a quickly drawn Mystery box.

I dunno, I get the feeling of it being close enough.
