Stuff That Ought To Be In The Manual But That Isn't
« on: September 27, 2007, 08:59:01 AM »
Hey guys!  It occurred to me that when I go to revise the manual for the next version of the game, I should probably go into some better detail for some things, and mention some as-of-yet undocumented features in the game.  If you can think of anything, post here!

I already know that I want to revise the layout to make it more readable, rewrite most of the text so it's not so confusing, and add a "tips" section too, to include stuff that would get written out in said rewrite.  Any other suggestions?

I'm sure Felix-the-ghost wants to chime in here.  I don't know how many times I've seem him post "I wish this was in the manual" when I tell him something isn't a bug.  :)  Maybe take a look through the bugs topic for some ideas of new things to mention in the manual.

AFE stuff.

Finding it out on your own without help and not knowing what you are looking for is dumb, right?

The next version of the game won't have all the AFE stuff though.  Some of it will probably be dropped, and some of it will be folded in as regular features (which will end up being documented anyway).

How about animated tiles? Will they be in 1.8?

They were a requested feature well before AFE, so yes.

I think it is safe to say the bombs will stay. Am I right?

Maybe the most used combinations
like superfire
fast shells
triple hammer

those should stay

That star dash is rather useful, too, but that's my opinion.

star dash doesn't work for me well

Guys, this isn't a post-AFE speculation thread.

Things that get left in will get documented appropriately.  I wanted to know anything that you guys felt should have been mentioned in the manual, but wasn't.  You know, like how you have to have a certain amount of downward velocity to stomp someone, otherwise they'll just bounce up a bit.

The program can't run files it wasn't made to run (e.g.: "Work files")

I had left a few files that I was messing around with still in there  :Gstp:

Mouse control
I believe that is in the readme HTML file. Either that or mouse control would be classified under something like the changing controls option.
