Some notes concerning Pixelwar
« on: July 24, 2006, 05:44:56 AM »
Keep in mind: I want to start the game small and gradually add new features.

(snip; there was a techdemo)

Features/Graphics:
 + Destroyable landscape
+ Pixelblood literally builds lakes and colours the landscape
+ 3 weapons (pistol, machinegun, rocketlauncher)
+ grenades (system like halo, -> extra button)
+ 640x480 (320x240 double scaled), scrolling (not like the techdemos 1024x768 non-scrolling mode)
+ maps are simply image files. size >= 320x240.

Gameplay:

Survival
Pretty much like the Techdemo. You (or you + a friend) fight an endless horde of enemy pixel soldiers. They spawn on certain spawnpoints, run fon the battle field from the edge of the screen or are dropped in by parachutes. The longer you survive, the higher your score is.
Notes
+ enemy waves get thougher the longer you live
 + Killcount
+ Time trial (kill as much as you can in x minutes, kill 100 as fast as possible)

(Note: I dropped the Metal Slug + Worms' destroyable landscape like Story mode for now. Too much extra work).

Mockup

(Note: Tanks will not be available until... a long time after the initial release)

Release date
I won't start working on PixelWar until around ~November.

Please note: See this game as a parody on todays brutality in television and games.

Hearing that makes me a bit sad, but I can understand your decision, because it's not easy to make stuff like that ;)

Destroyable landscape I don't think might always be a good thing. It might screw you up...a lot. But this is just my thought.

the game supports both destroyable and indestructible landscape. it's just another type of "material" in the game.

I hope this game gets released soon!  :P

I also think that it would be cool if this game had some sort of "dbz mod" where the little guys could fly and create, charge and launch spheres of energy...  :P

Have to wait one more month for development (He said development won't start continue before April 2007, and we'll even be lucky then if he has time.), but I definitely want to see this game in its full glory.

I know this might sound stupid, but, could you make a version of the game without blood? I love the gameplay, it's a fun game, but I don't really like the blood that much...

He could make it an option, but the blood is one of the main features! It runs down the level, and it's excessive.
