StarFox: Shadows of Lylat update thread(fangame)
« on: July 18, 2007, 11:02:00 PM »
This impressive project is a mod, wait, not mod, but a TOTAL CONVERSION of the Freespace 2 engine made into the world of StarFox.  The story is kept tightly under wraps, but it does take place sometime between SF64(Lylat Wars) and SF: Adventures.  Known Arwing models put into the game include:

SNES model
N64 model
Assault model
Adventures model

The Great Fox is also in there, and it looks very, very impressive.  The staff have also managed to develop planetary missions(Corneria will be level 1) using the FS2 engine, which, of course, was designed only for space.  Their most recent development, which has me totally stoked, is their successful creation of an "on-rails" scenario, with a stationary camera following a free-moving Arwing.

Here's a video of the new development:
Shadows of Lylat - Tech Test (on rail missions)

Here's a link to their site(don't even think of spamming their forums!):

Discuss.  What do you think?

Check out that on-rails test?  That is huge, considering they weren't even planning on having something like that.

Here's some music for you

http://http://www.corneriasound.com/betamusic/theme1-01.mp3

It's a remixed version of the SF64(Lylat Wars) intro, created entirely by DZComposer, Star Fox music arranger extraordinaire.

Yep.  It's a fan-made project.  Any attempt to profit off of this would bring the wrath of Nintendo upon them swiftly and mercilessly.  As long as it's never used for profit, Ninty should have no reason to halt its progress, and they haven't so far.

When is the release date?

Here's their response:  when it's done.

There will be a "demo" that features the complete first two chapters as well as the multiplayer.  We can probably expect that sometime in early-mid 2008.
