...What he said.

Well, I'll just give you a list:

Bahamut Lagoon*(Turn-based strategy/FF hybrid by Square)
Chrono Trigger(Awesome RPG by Square)
Dragon Quest VI*(Sweet RPG by Enix)
F-ZERO
Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI
Fire Emblem 5/Fire Emblem: Thracia 776(Awesome side story to FE4 involving prince Leaf)
Killer Instinct(Intense combo-based fighting game)
Kirby Superstar
Lufia(Interesting RPG)
Mario Paint(fun to tinker around with)
Phalanx(Tough side-scrolling space shooter)
Secret of Mana(Real-time RPG Gaia style in a way)
Seiken Densetsu 3(True sequel to Secret of Mana)
Smash TV(Fun multiplayer romp!)
Star Fox 1 and 2(Great games that complement each other very well)
Star Ocean*^(Impressive RPG by Enix)
Sunset Riders(Amazing side-scrolling shoot-em-up by the makers of Contra)
Super Castlevania IV
Tales of Phantasia*(The first game in the now-famous Tales series)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV

*=DeJap has near-complete to complete translations for these
^=DeJap has a necessary graphics decompression pack for this

I would have suggested more, but other people already recommended those choices.
