I think Florian said that he is working on an advanced profile page, like basically having a giant sig.

I see 90% of all them saying "No Description Set", I already have a myspace, thats enough for me!

yeah, still thinking about the profile page. probably it will act as a hub for all your social software account needs. ie: provide links to myspace, flickr et al. but the profile page is of pretty low priority anyway. don't expect one for some time.

unfortunately. sigs are plain annoying and don't contribute to the forum.

There's a reason Invision is superior to PHPBB

Instead of a sig, then, how about an updated profile page, almost like (gasp) MySpace?

(splitted from another topic, ... here's just the discussion about ommiting signatures and PMs)

[...] also it will neither support private messages nor signatures.

Sigs are what we express ourselves with! i can easily find where someone has posted to find something about them! take it away and i would feel deprived.

I'm voting for sigs and PMs. I think its absolutely insane to live without them because i hate email. I like PMs because they... work... and are convenient. I check my email almost once every 1/2 year at some points!!!

And sigs, though i don't really use them here, they ARE quite a part of forums. Sigs aren't always a waste of page space either... Some are compact. Like little bars.

But i guess it doesn't matter - i know when i develop something, nobodies going to stop me from putting my opinions going into it... Thats why, i guess, a lot of free programs have interfaces normal people would go insane trying to use :P (But those same programs are my favs XD)

I might also note that people probably won't be attracted to using your forum software if they support sigs and PMs (Obviously, a lot of people do, including me... I'd go insane on mailing lists! i freaking hate E-mail. Oh, right there ARE sigs on mailing lists, the mailing software adds them *Hint, hint* XD lol)

Anyways, thats just my opinion on all this... I was thinking about using this software on my next website till now. Oh, and yes, my next website is a loooooong ways away.

i agree full on with nmn.  I am all for sigs, avatars, PM's, everything!!!  and besides, I love reading some people's sigs, and following the links in them.  plus, i'm in the process of getting 3 new userbar type things right now, and although it may take up extra page space, what's that gonna hhurt???  I mean, the internet is bloody, f*****g infinite.  it's not like we're going to run out of page space.  I support everything associated with PM's, sigs, avatars, and other links there.  (OFFTOPIC) Especially 72LKA!!!!  I now rain down shurikens on all bob-ombs and non-LKA supporters!!!!!!!!  Ninjas are on the side of LKA!!!!!!!! Muahhahahahahahahahaaaa!!!!!

I like Signatures and Pms. However I have a suggestion for PMs, when someone joins a forum, they need to prove themself they can use it. (95 legit posts, never got a ban before getting the PM system, etc.) In that case, we won't have noobs spamming us at least.

and like all the ordians are chanting, i am in favour of pm´s and sigs to.
i mean, stealing those precious little things that gave the whole board some colour is almost the same like deleting the plants and decorations from a good mario game.
well... pm´s and sigs are useless- that´s true.
but if the opinions of all the forummembers get opressed the popularity of this forum will decrase rapidly... everybody could just be separated from each other by looking on the avatars, but any individual human beeing simply wants to be anonymous.
so, after a lot nonscence-talking, i am finished now :P

As for sigs, they should be able to stay if they're appropriate. If I were admining this board, I'd say cool_gamer8119's is rather ewww, but Lurchi's is probably one of the many model signatures on this forum. Personally, two lines can say everything you need, while a picture doesn't really do much except clutter the forum. Say, how many of you would seriously appreciate it if every member on the board went parading around the forum with a sig this huge? How many?

Yes, it's from the second page, but....

Then a chat is more for suited to than a PM system anyway ;)
Oh, I can safely say I'm the person who types long paragraphs that seem a bit more suited to wikipedia than an IM service. I mean, sure, you can definately drop a message in IM that the other guy can see when he logs in, but why the heck would I send him a whole paragraph? Honestly.

"Hey! They\'re spitting out randomly selected catchphrases at each other!"
"But they\'re randomly selected catchphrases from the manga. That makes them special."

Also, this board is, dare I say it, in love with anime. Isn\'t that a bit unhealthy?
