So I've got no idea where else to put this so
« on: May 04, 2010, 09:43:15 AM »
I'd put it in Super Mario War, but it isn't specifically related to the game so,

So I've been thinking about bringing the old weekly map contest back. It's lost popularity in the past, so it has been canceled about 2-3 times now. For those who weren't around when it was: I put up a theme to follow, and the people voted for who's was the best, whoever one had a special title until the next contest was tallied up. I don't think alot of people who make maps even check this forum, but still, I need an opinion.

Anyone? Also if you can, please leave a reason.
Also JJ please don't murder me for this topic

The problem was that you got lazy and took forever to tally up after everyone was finished voting. If you work on that, I don't think it'd have a reason to die all the time. I'd join the contest.

The other problem is that Super Mario War in general has lost a lot of popularity.

First Person Shooters. I\'ve pretty much figured out everything I need to know to make one, but the difficult part is making it stand out.
Make a  superb tea-bagging system. That\'s what I look for. Like Assault Cube.

I would, but I probably wouldn't get responses from everyone.

Anyways, I'll put one up now.

I gotta find that 'soincs hed' contest.

edit: One of my old contests. Apparently failed to post results publicly.

Also, Sawniks hed contest I forgot it ends with a cliffhanger.

I just can't imagine who voted for "No".
The weekly map contests were a big chance to show one's mapping skills and to make someone's maps more famous. It can even give some tips for later maps.
Only problem is that the guys who are responsible for tallying up the votes seem to be a bit lazy, like MC Jimmy already said. And there aren't too many participiants nowadays. For the few people who still take part in the contests it's still fun though.

So I voted for Yes. I'd be really happy if the results for the last contest (last post: middle of December 2009 :() were finally up and the next contest started.
My SMWar supermarket, check it out! (don't bother looking... the links are dead and so is the supermarket, I'm just keeping this here for archiving purposes)

I have lost all motivation to return to this forum, but for the sake of the game living on it's last strands of popularity, I will vote yes.

See you again in a month or two.

While the game has sort of passed its prime and is in a desperate need of something breathtaking, the map contests might get me interested in mapmaking once again.

I say yes.
