Title: F-zero wii disscussion.
Post by: Kabukiguy on April 12, 2008, 05:12:52 PM
If there would be a new F-zero on wii, that would be incredible and awesome.
I was thinking about stuff, and if they do make this, they don't have to put all of this, because im just saying.

I'm thinking a levelediter(like F-zero climax)
and a more realistic vehicle creation,
instead of seperate bases, have actual parts, like,
a base for the actual machine, then inside an engine, boosters etc.
and the abitlty to add addons like spoilers and  protruding structures.
Of course, the ability to import miis should be a must.
a storymode for each character would be nice, characters from all the games should be put in, (climax, maximum velocity, AX, GX, X,GP legend, the original, and F-zero BS.)
retro tracks like in mario kart should be added, as well as aditional easter egg type,
tracks, that have something to do with other nintendo series.
Music is a big part of F-zero, so they should bring back some X songs, and of course
get the themes of the GBA titles.some new  track types, new hazards, boosts, and movies.
If I were head of sega creative development right now, i'd get started on this.

last but not least, some sort of online.

oh and also it would be cool if the characters got new attire like CFalcon has in brawl.

Betcha Reggie Fils-Aime reveals this at E3 in July!

F-Zero GX/AX is still one of my favorite GCN/Arcade racing games of all-time!

mine too, but the lack of the classic stages from X was kinda sad.

and yes hopefully, the next gen F-zero will be announced!

also, a DS title wouldn't be to shabby either....

It would be just insane, due to the Wii's awesome power to make more things in games. Gravity changes and ramps and railing would be cool.

do they have a translation patch for climax?

Because I can play it fine and dandy, but sometimes, something will just confuse the shit outta me.

F-Zero Wii should have some type of ramp thing. When you go off of a special ramp, you have to perform a task (point yuor Wiimote to something, follow a line, rotate joystick). When you do them right, you earn a boost, like in Mario Kart Wii. :D

I disagree with this to a large degree. Something like this belongs in MKW only because Mario can get away with that amount of gimmickiness while F-Zero just can't. Out of place Wiimote movements just don't belong in a game like F-Zero and I honestly think it would ruin the game for me. The Wiimote should be limited to steering and menu navigation only.

Anyway, I think F-Zero on the Wii could be great as long as they make a good deal of improvement to it so it feels like than just another rehashed sequel by Nintendo that all the critics seem to be complaining about. But the one thing I fear is this: The difficulty being lowered to make it more "casual". *shudders*

It's an interesting dilemma for a company. What many gamers forget at times (including myself) is that these video games companies exist for only one  purpose; to make a profit. In the end, a developer will make a decision in the hopes that they will be able to sell more games, and earn more of a profit. Many developers today are faced with this exact question: will making games "casual" (aka not as difficult) result in a greater profit?

I think that some developers see the potential market for video games, and wish to access as many of those people as they can. Lowering the difficulty of games is often considered by many companies. Do you keep the game as tough as it was, and not open the game to a larger group of people, or do you lower the difficulty, at the risk of loosing your fan base? Most likely a company will make the decision that results in the greatest profit. Of course, there are ways around this, such as making the game have several difficulty levels.

You have to remember that the F-Zero franchise is well-known for being "tough-as-nails" hard.  The main reason why F-Zero GX turned out as well as it did was because of the challenge.  If Nintendo were to reduce that level of challenge significantly, the fanbase would not be pleased.

The thing I'd like to see is implemention of weapons. And they should be able to be turned off too.

One question, is F-Zero a first party developer of Nintendo or something like how Kirby is.

It depends.

X was developed by Nintendo.

GX was made by Sega, but published by Nintendo.

F-Zero is a first party franchise of Nintendo's.  during the GCN era, Nintendo allowed a few third party companies to work on their next iterations of some of their franchises, the most notable being Sega developing F-Zero GX and Namco developing StarFox: Assault.  F-Zero is entirely owned by Nintendo.

F-zero GX was made by AV and published by sega/nintendo.
