I present to you Mega72. Mega72 is a MegaMan clone starring 72dpi members. The project is still fresh, but I got enough stuff to release a demo~

Controls: Arrows to move, Up to jump, Space to shoot.

Have fun

Pretty good so far. It took me a while to get used to it (considering that I havn't really played any Megaman games.)

Is... is that me? What's coming off my back?

Other than that, you've got a great engine going... a couple things though. I HATE blind jumps like that! I'm like, "woo! almost got to the end! oh look arrows pointing down I'll hop forward a little and-" dead. T_T Also, PLEASE add an invincibility thing and maybe the knock back that's in the Megaman games after you're hit. That'd be nice.

Anyway, still have yet to beat the level but I'm just a bit too frustrated at the level design... also CHECKPOINTS PLEASE.

Yeah, I got owned by Dorino 'cause of this.

-Blind jumps are just beginner traps :V
-Invincibility will be added later
-Knock back, you say? ...I'll try, but I don't know how to do this.
-Don't know how to program checkpoints, but I'll try a little research.

I'm very curious to see what you've done with this, just it seems that the download link is down right now :V
I guess I'll try later, then, sendspace.com itself doesn't seem to fully work right now.
But what I can see from the sprites in that Banner thing, Ultra looks more Megaman-styled than the other two on the preview. Looks a bit mish-mashed.

I'll say more once I've tried it <:

oh that was awesome, blind jumps got me at first but obviously i remembered them second time round, doino seems to randomly appear, i presume he's there since the begging of the level and depending on how fast you get there thats where he is, so if you get passed the spikes dorino's in your face all "LOLOLOL"
other than that it was awesome!

Pretty nice, definitely needs work though.
The sprite jumps around a bit when he walks, and overall the game has too many random bullet shooting things instead of the usual Megaman-enemy fare.
Then again you did say it's a very early demo so yes, I guess I can't complain yet. I hope the physics will be more Megaman-esque, though.

Also having to click on the level with the mouse in a mostly keyboard oriented game is a bit strange, it's like playing a game with a GCN controller and having to switch to the wiimote to pick a level and then switch back to the GCN controller again :V

This needs the charge thing.
Bug: If you release jump when jumping, you immediately go down. You should do that jump thin like in Mario.

My god this game is hard.
Fix the collision with the shooter things on the wall, am I supposed to be able to stand on them or not?
EDIT: Also fix the collision with yourself, I can sometimes shove your head into spikes and not take a single shot. I skim the spikes with your foot and die horribly.

Nice, but i suggest fixing the masking and x-y positioning on the sprites
Also yeah, there needs to be less shooting thingys
Can i be in it?

Pretty good so far. Took me about 7 tries to beat the level. I really hope this is successful, as I love Mega Man games. Good luck!

The sprites seem a bit... misplaced don't you think?

Also shouldn't Flashman's stage be used by Flashman?

Saw this lurking as a guest, couldn't help but check it out.

First off, try to code in item drops from enemies, like small energy and large. Also the knockback and invincibility as mentioned. Beat the level on the second try. Things to note:

peashooter bullets go through walls and the limit onscreen is three.
try to change controls to Z for jump and X for shoot.
the enemies fire randomly, try to set up a definite amount of things.

But the engine's pretty good.

Health should work like a sidebar thing in Megaman, with 28 units of health. I think small energy was two units and large energy is like.. I'm not sure, 10 or so? It was a lot more. Same for weapon and weapon energy pickups. I'll go record this maybe. I don't know.

That's how jumping worked in Megaman, so it's not a bug. It needs to stay like that. Research games that clones are based off of before you post "bugs" that could be in the basic movement engine.

And with that, I leave again. Or maybe I'll go post in /ee/ about IRC. I don't know. Yeah, I'll leave. Adios~

I made a quick tileset for a stage that'd better suit Ultra.

You'll undoubtedly need to add more tiles, but you get the idea. The Cheep Cheep-slinging Mario is an idea I had for an enemy that only appears in U_M's stage.

So I just played through the demo again, and I though of something that you might want to consider:
On the UltraMan fight, it would be better to have the camera stick on the room, instead of following the character.

Also, I just got through seeing some Megaman II play, and I really like the remixed music. Sounds awesome.
