: Yoshi Skier January 17, 2008, 10:07:41 PM
This is where I post all my maps that I've made. If you download anything, I just ask that you would leave a post giving some feedback. It is greatly appreciated, because I would do the same for your maps.

For the complete catalog of my maps, download the map pack below, or just visit the site I threw together, Yoshi Skier's Stuff (http://http://www.freewebs.com/yoshi-skier). It has all my maps neatly arranged, as well as an editorial that I try to add to every now and then.

Newest maps:

[smwstuff:10sdp5ko]2458[/smwstuff:10sdp5ko][smwstuff:10sdp5ko]2459[/smwstuff:10sdp5ko][smwstuff:10sdp5ko]2393[/smwstuff:10sdp5ko][smwstuff:10sdp5ko]2394[/smwstuff:10sdp5ko]
[smwstuff:10sdp5ko]1874[/smwstuff:10sdp5ko]

Thanks in advance for your feedback - I appreciate your time.

Two new maps for y'all. First one is for princeyoshi4's request: trees on a moving platform.

Truculent Trapdoor (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=887)
This may be my new favorite map. The trapdoor above, and moving platform underneath to catch you leads to some extremely cool battles. Great replay value.

Perplexing Pipe (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=888)
For some reason, I had a sudden urge to make a moving pipe in one of my maps. It's hard to tell, but in gameplay, the pipe actually moves up and down. I was a little limited by the editor though. It wouldn't let me have a sliding piece that went off the screen, and it wouldn't allow me to put some warp points on the moving pipe. But hey, you can't always get what you want.

Enjoy them. And please comment (be it positive or negative).

a ball bounceing up and down
a bush on a moveing platform

: Re: yoshi_skier's treasure chest of maps

No need to bump. I found some more maps. First, yours:

Barren Land (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1036)
It didn't turn out as good as I had hoped. For the catus ball, I wanted to make it so that when you touched it, you died. I could only get it to be deadly from the top. Oh well...

Crunch! (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1037)
I remembered one of the castle levels from Super Mario World. That's where the bottom crunching thing comes from. To get the item, you have to risk getting crunched by the bricks coming from the left. The upper left moving platforms was just a random idea.

Ski Lift (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1038)
The easiest way to get up the hill is by using the ski lift. It's just very dangerous. Not only is there a couple of snow bricks to crunch you, anyone can hit the off button, effectively closing off the ski lift and anyone else on it. Just a random idea.

Thanks for the tip off.

Here's my entry from the 23rd map contest:
Elevator (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1078)
The pillars are solid, so the only way you can get from one side to the other is via the elevator in the middle. I was a little disappointed in the AI; they didn't respond as well to this map as I had hoped... Still fun to play though.

Three new ones. First, my entry for the 24th map contest:

All's Not as it Seems (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1220)
I again go for simplicity for inspiration. This is one of the few maps I've made that is a blast for all the modes. But as the title suggests, all's not as it seems. Try it out and see for yourself. I added a bit of a twist on a couple of the tiles that was used in sm3. Go find it!

The Ice Box (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1219)
An act of boredom. Enjoy it.

Green Cliff (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1221)
See above description. Not my favorite map by a long shot, but hey, I figured that someone might get a kick out of it, and it's better that it's on here instead of sitting in a folder.

Requests? The creativity pool is running dry.

Please everyone I'd like some feedback on this map. I really liked how it turned out, plus I love the title. I've been trying to give everyone's maps a look, and then some feedback, so I'd appreciate it if you could return the favor. This is why we have a forum here; for smw, and the stuff we all make. Thanks. I'll take requests too if you have them.

Teenage Wasteland (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1399)

The title is a reference from a song by the Who, a classic rock group. Bonus points if you recognized that.

Anywho, the story here is that the Mushroom Kingdom is long past it's glory days where nature was valued highly. The Mushroom Kingdom has industrialized to keep up with the other leading manufactures of the world. People are forced to live in the blocks of old; while the parents work from dusk to dawn, the kids and teens are forced to play in the industrial parks littering the Kingdom. This is the Teenage Wasteland.

That is a pretty good map. The action is quite fast pased and hectic, and the bots do relatively well on it. The blue blocks really only get in the way, it seems. I also don't like how bots like to hide between the note block and the pipe. Other than that, it's quite an awesome map!
: Re: a treasure chest of maps (everything's on page 1)
: Yoshi Skier February 20, 2008, 07:36:48 PM
Thanks, Big JM. I threw in the blue blocks in at the later stages of making this map. It was a side thought of mine to put in a way for players to get between those two platforms fast. I didn't execute the thought well though.

More for y'all to enjoy: part of sonnitude's map contest. These contests have given me more inspiration to make more maps, which is always a good thing.

Yoshi_Skier You Won My Contest!
Can You Make A Level That Depending On The Top Layer You Set It To Foreground Or Background, Changes How It Looks?
: Re: a treasure chest of maps (everything's on page 1)
: Yoshi Skier February 23, 2008, 07:52:56 PM
Yay first concert win! But do you mean have a layer that you can set in the level editor as being either background or foreground, and thus changes how the map plays?
: Re: a treasure chest of maps (everything's on page 1)
: Raichu February 24, 2008, 07:01:55 AM
No, I Mean It Is A In Game Option, First Start up the game, next, go to graphics, finally go to top layer option and set it to foreground or background, wholla, your levels should look different now! When you change this option on my request it should look different.
: Re: a treasure chest of maps (everything's on page 1)
: Yoshi Skier February 24, 2008, 01:49:33 PM
Wow. I never noticed that before. I'll do your request, though don't expect it any time soon - it may take me a while to figure out how I'm going to do this. Thanks!

In other news, I noticed that the first page of this thread is looking a bit *ahem* unorganized, and is a real pain. Therefore, I've taken a leaf out of SMWFan's book and took a trip to freewebs. I threw together a site, which I now present: Yoshi Skier's Stuff (http://http://www.freewebs.com/yoshi-skier).

It has all 25 of my maps, arranged alphabetically, by date of creation, and (when I get some time) by which ones I like the best. It also has an editorial, where I get to sound off on whatever's on my mind. It's more for my own good than anyone else's, but it's an interesting read. Please take a look at it; I'll update it whenever I make new maps. Thanks.

Bump for new content. And sorry Sonnitude, I've started your map, but I didn't realize that even though you can switch the forground and background ingame, it doesn't change the perspective (foreground will still be in the foreground). I'm going to work on it some more this weekend.

Two maps for you all to enjoy:

Wooded Ships Can't Sail on Flaming Seas (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1817)

Where It's Always Winter (http://http://smwstuff.com/filepage.php?id=1818)

Also, these two maps bring my total of uploaded maps to thirty. To make it all easier for you, I made a map pack of my first thirty. Enjoy it; it took a while to organize and rename them.

*bump*

Was a bit bored today, so I decided to fine tune a couple of maps for your entertainment. Enjoy. Also I couldn't think of any good titles, so I took song titles instead. Brownie points to anyone who can name the band to each one.

Since you never let my topic go down, I won't let ours down...
[spoilers:gfha1qm6]new map btw[/spoilers:gfha1qm6]

Enjoyable map. I like JJF alot. Although the AI has trouble hitting the flip blocks, and the top is quite useless. Nevertheless, you made a good map.

Thanks NiGHTS.

The title for the second one's supposed to be "Yes, Spikes Do In Fact Grow on Vines." At least, now they do.

The initial ideas for these two maps came from a friend, but I did mess around with it a bit. The first one offers a really fierce battle. I'll give him credit if he ever joins here, but until then, enjoy.

Ice Smash has a bit of a hard difficulty to it. Also, once you clear the bottom, how do you get the top Blue Blocks.

Difficulty was one of my goals. A lot of people say that the bots are too easy, but winning in this map isn't as easy as your normal map. Also don't worry about getting to the top ice blocks - the only place you can spawn is above each pile.

: NiGHTS April 25, 2008, 08:53:15 PM
Not really. After the Blocks are gone, the pits will basically finish the bots off.

Don't make assumptions, especially since it seems as if you haven't even played the map yet (or else you would've known that you can only spawn above the ice blocks). Please play the map first, then you can start criticizing my map. Not to be rude, but don't bash my maps until you've played them, particulary if you plan on commenting on something such as bots.

My mistake, That was the wrong map.

I played your level. It was pretty fun. The Blue Blocks go away way to quickly though.
Also, do YoshiSkier_(words), the map is called Skier_Ice Smash.

Oops, my bad. I usually name my maps YoshiSkier_(name) but I must have made a mistake. Oh well. Here are two maps I made recently. Props to anyone who can get what the first title refrences.

Bridge of Khazadum (http://http://smwffh.supersanctuary.net/609YoshiSkier_Bridge%20of%20Khazadum.map)

Melting (http://http://smwffh.supersanctuary.net/442YoshiSkier_Melting.map)

I'll add mirrors to smwstuff once the site is back up, seeing as it isn't letting me log in.

I just tried Bridge of Khazamdum and it's pretty good. Then again, I usually like castle maps. XP

And the sign in isn't that screwed up for SMWstuff. When you get that error, just go back to the main site and your still signed in and you can still access your stuff.

Nah, I've gotten that for a long time. You see, this is the message I get when I now try to sign in:

The inputted info was not correct.
Though I know for a fact that I'm using the right password, since I had Firefox save the password. And when you try to view specific categories in Downloadable Content, nothing happens. I'm convinced there is something wrong with the site.
