The April Fools Edition of Super Mario War has been released!  It contains a few bug fixes and some new features like animated water and lava.  But the big thing is that it has over 20 secret features for you to find!

Here are some hints:
 * Some features are special moves for players based on what powerup they have or what they are carrying
 * Some are new items and powerups
 * Some are tweaks to existing features
 * And some things don't fall into any of these categories...

1 - 1 pt.  Tanooki Powerup out of a [?] box (JerryArr) - jump, jump, down, down, left, right, left, right, turbo, item use, turbo
2 - 1 pt.  Fly with Feather (4matsy) - hold down for 2 seconds, let go of down then jump.  While flying you can press down to stomp but keep flying.
3 - 1 pt.  Super Shells/Blue Block Kick (4matsy + Dakaggo) - While holding a shell or blue block, press down, down, then release turbo
4 - 1 pt.  Super Fireball (LKA) - With the fireflower, roll down, forward+down, forward, turbo
5 - 1 pt.  Super Pow triggers/destroys some blocks (4matsy) - down, down, use item, then rapidly press turbo
6 - 1 pt.  Super Mod triggers/destroys some blocks (4matsy) - jump, jump, use item, then rapidly press turbo
7 - 1 pt.  Invincible Dash (MC Jimmy) - With star power, hold turbo and run, then press forward twice to dash
8 - 1 pt.  Homing Bullet Bills (4matsy) - With the bullet bill powerup, press turbo, turbo, turbo, item use
9 - 1 pt.  Super Jump on Note Blocks (4matsy) - down for 2 seconds, then jump at right time
10 - 1 pt.  Clock Freeze (MC Jimmy) - With the clock powerup, hold down for 5 seconds then use the clock
11 - 1 pt.  Triple Hammer Throw (cool_gamer8119 + 4matsy + mini763) - With the hammer, press back, back, forward + turbo
12 - 1 pt.  Exploding Boomerangs (4matsy) - With the boomerang, hold back for 2 seconds, then forward + turbo, then press turbo again to make boomerang explode
13 - 2 pt.  Turn Blue Throw Blocks into Red Throw Blocks - press up, down, up, down, right, left, up, down (JJames19119)
14 - 2 pt.  Carried Spring Block Appears (SMW Fan + JJames19119) - press down, jump, down, jump, down, jump, down, down, turbo
15 - 2 pt.  In Stomp Mode, press down, down, left, down, right, down, jump (LKA) and green koopas will turn into red koopas.
16 - 2 pt.  Turn Powerup Blocks into View Blocks (PimpChris) - press right, down, left, down, jump, jump, jump
17 - 2 pt.  Carried Spike Block Appears (JJames19119 + Link901) - press turbo, down, left, right, jump, turbo
18 - 2 pt.  When you're the bob-omb, press left, right, left, right, down, down, turbo (PimpChris) and you will turn back into your character but will now be holding a bomb to throw.
19 - 3 pt.  
 * After getting a bunch of kills in a row (more than 10), Flame Brother Pops Up (4matsy)
 * Quickly enter left, right, left, right, turbo, turbo (4matsy) to enter boss level!
 * If you beat the boss, you are awarded the "Golden Podobo" powerup (JerryArr).  It is similar to the bullet bill powerup, but a burst of team colored podobos shoot from the bottom of the screen.  Once this powerup is earned, it is given to you at the beginning of each match (until the next tournament powerup wheel spin).
20 - 3 pt.
 * In Domination Mode, get all the domination zones and there is a chance the Yellow Sledge Brother will pop up (Link901 + JJames19119)
 * Quickly enter jump, jump, left, right, down, down, use item (Link901) to enter boss level!
 * If you beat the boss, you are awarded the "Super Bomb" powerup (Link901).  With this powerup you can spawn bombs that you can carry and throw.  Each bomb has a timer between 3 and 5 seconds (random).  Ohter player can throw your bombs, but you cannot be killed by their explosions.
21 - 4 pt.  
 * In Stomp Mode, keep killing enemies with the hammer powerup (at least 5 in a row) and the Green Sledge Brohter will pop up (JJames19119)
 *  Quickly enter down, up, left, right, turbo, turbo, use item (JJames19119) to enter boss level!
 * If you beat the boss, you are awarded the "Sledge Hammer" powerup (JJames19119).  It is similar to the hammerpowerup, on contact, the hammer breaks into 3 smaller hammers shooting in random directions.  Once this powerup is earned, it is given to you at the beginning of each match (until the next tournament powerup wheel spin).
 * Super Sledge Hammer (JJames19119) - with the sledge hammer powerup, press down, down, turbo to fire a super sledge hammer that explodes on impact.

There's a secrets option in the "Gameplay" section of the options. >_>

Edit: Also, AI seems to be more cognizant about the wraparound screen, although I might be looking for that now.

Oh you can exit the level during a tour so if your about to lose and it'll let your start the match over. Don't know if it was like that before.

More of an intentional limitation.  There is a maximum number of allowed animated tiles.  I think it is 196.

i kno how to get em in domination!!! fight over one square over and over and u will get it...

btw for the springy i found out that it is right as u touch it!!! and i beleive u have to hold it for a bit... not sure... it kinda is luck whenever i do it  :lol:

dam im gettin tired... plus theres weird noises out side and its kinda creepin me out... =/

this sux... if i stop i wont be able to get stuff!!!  :(

EDIT: btw im looking thru the gfx pack and boy u put alot of stuf in two52!!! superfire (some mario charactor im guessing...) and many other stuff!!! hammers! bombs! podoboos!!! dude... lots of new things...

In classic mode, I got a bunch of kills (16 or 17, I'd say 16) in a row and a yellow sledge appeared.  Then I hit a ? and a star popped out.  I was holding fire at the time I got the star and I was going super fast when I touched the star.

That's part of #19.  Except was he yellow or red?  I think he should have been red.

Ok, I'm off to bed.  I'll check this again in the morning to see if anything new is found.  I see you're finding some interesting things, now just find out exactly what is triggering them :)

OOO!OOO!! I found one! In Frag Limit when with hammers, when you shoot and hit a direction button at the same time 3 hammers will come out and go straight in front of u!!

also, and this may seem lame but the 72dpiarmy logo still says 2006... i dont know if this is one or not but i am throwing it out there anyway!

Along with this release, we are announcing an official contest.  Each secret feature has a point value for discovering it.  The first person to post the secret and the steps required to use it will get the points.  The person with the most points when all the features are finally discovered will win the contest.  The prize for winning is a special forum status plus you will get special recognition on the splash screen in the next SMW release!

Sorry for double post.
You get hammer guy in damanation when one player has 2 of the blocks
and the player has 1.and when the player who has 2 steals the other block it comes out. :D

Ok, I think I might've figured out more about the Green Sledge Bro.  In Stomp Mode with all Koopas, I got it to show up, so it seems to have a connection to them.

if u look around in the gfx pack u will see that the hammer bros have an animation for them throwing things and then you will also see that there is a new hammer set (they are related) also there are 2 new powerups, podobo which i cant seem to find out how it works... and bomb... you throw bombs and i think they will blow up... we now what they are all going to do now we need to know how to trigger them!!!

and there is also a new block that we haven't seen yet... wtf do you the "viewblock.png" is for...

I highly recomend looking in the gfx pack, we may find clues to solving this riddle!!!  :lol:  :lol:

You chaged the blue throw block. :roll:
I figured out what 2 do but i dont know how i did them.
The view block let you see the powerup inside it and there was a triple hammer shot.

EDIT: Found out how to get red bro in stomp mode... kill 10 koopas without dying... at least i think its ten... not sure... a number around ten  :lol:

EDIT2: Nope its 15 koopas!!! ill try and c if its just 15...

actually this is real weird... it has something to do with 5's, once it was 15 then 20 then 25 then 30 then 35 then 40... interesting...

GOT IT!!! if you get 15 koopas without dying you will get red hammer bro.. plus after that if you continue to 20 then 25 and 30, 35, and 40 and so on, you will get him again... i am soooo good...

can you be more descriptive... it doesn't work for me... actually i got to work twice but i cant get it to do it again!!!

and two52.. i cant beleive you made the hammer bros related!!! IF YOU WANT TO GET A HAMMER BRO THEN DO THIS!!!

In any mod where you have lives or you can get points (stomp, classic, thwomp, frag) you have to have 15 kills without dying and then from then on every 5 kills you will have the hammer bro pop up...

does this mean i get all the points corresponding to it seeing i covered em all???

lol ok! i was wrong anyways with the frag and what not... the thing i said so far only works for classic and stomp mode..

btw found another secret, when you play jail mode the jail is missing when its supposed to be there... even the thing to make you slow down when you are jailed is missing... nice...

Maybe he forgot to put it in.  Also that doesn't work with the hammer.  I do that and it doesn't happen.  But sometimes I''ll be standing and I'll turn and do it like a second after and it does it.

Resuming #19: After getting a bunch of kills in a row, hit up up down down left right left right, then fire, then use item, then pause (like the Contra Code).  Unpause and you'll hear a SMB3 changing suits noise.  Then you can hit a ? and get the Tanooki suit.  The Tanooki suit seems like it's in addition to whatever, so you can get a fire flower and sh

It seems like a bit too much for just a Tonooki suit. Can you make it simpler? Most people won't even be able to fidn it out on their own.

I would guess they'd make the Tanooki suit a regular item in 1.8 and not make you go through a bunch of steps.  The long sequence is probably just for the contest.

Alright, I've figured out the following stuff.  Thanks to what other posters here have found, I've been able to access the following.

"Tri-Hammer"- Change direction and fire at the same time.
"LKA-Douken"- Down-to-forward quarter-circle motion and fire when pressing forward.
Red Sledge Bro. - Obtain a multiple of 5 kills in a row without dying.
Yellow Sledge Bro. - Have all but single domination area in possession of one player and have the remaining one switch holders.
Green Sledge Bro. - Not too sure here, but I think it has to do with multiple kills at once with a hammer.
Tanooki - Really confused about this one.  I've gotten it under 3 different circumstances, all in Stomp Mode with just Goombas.  Contra code IS involved, though.
Animated map elements. Very nice work, by the way!
Sometimes, the multikill shells die on impact with other objects.

That's all for now, but I'm still trying things.  Can't wait to see what else is in this!

As for the rest of the stuff posted here: some is really really close but not quite and some is way off.  And please, if you want to speculate about what is in the game based on the gfx you saw in the project, please do that in the speculation thread (http://http://forum.72dpiarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=2287), not here.  Only post things you've found in the game.

And about the jail thing.  You probably didn't have 3 or more players playing.  You can't jail someone in 2 player mode.  Jail is generally a pretty messed up mode (complicated scoring, confusing on conditions when players are jailed or released, 2 player limitations, ect).  We have plans for fixing it soon.

And yes, these are the types of things you should be looking for.  Some are fairly easy to discover and some are pretty complicated.  The community will probably find 10 or so within a week or two.  The others might require some hints if nothing is found for a while...

Yeah, this is one of the ones that is really close.  Go ahead and try this on your computer.  Do exactly what he says.  Does it work for you?

Ok for the Tanookie you must click:

DOWN, DOWN, UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, FIRE, Use Item then Pause the game then Unpause, then CLICK FIRE and you'll here a transform noise then if you hit the item block you get the suit.

Actually you can skip pausing the game I made a mistake.

Figured out the super-high note block jump.
Just use the note block as normal (hold up once every jump to bounce higher), but also hold down the whole time. After the first high jump, if you're still holding down, the next high jump will be WHOAMG high. :p

EDIT: Cape flying:
Hold down for 2 seconds, then hold up (still holding down). You'll hear the "got a feather" sound. Release down (but keep up held), and you'll rise up slowly. o_O

EDIT 2: Exploding boomerang:
Hold left+right, release one direction and quickly hold it again and then press fire before you come to a stop. I think. <_<

EDIT 3: Triple hammer clarification:
Tap forward twice, then back long enough to turn around. As long as you don't press any more buttons, your next shot will be the triple hammer. Basically means you have to stand still until you're ready to fire it. :p

I could've sworn I saw one or two going in a parabolic arc like Big JM said, though. Dunno if it's a glitch, or if I missed something... <_<

EDIT: ...no, I'm definitely seeing parabolic ones. Wonder if there's a way to control that...

EDIT PART DOS: ...hmm, I think I have the bomberang/kaboomerang now. Walk normally, then hold the opposite direction as well, then fire while both directions are held. o_O

You're on a roll.  As each bill fires, it picks a player to shoot at so the diagonal isn't random.

Not quite on the boomerang.  A hint would be the move works on gamepads too.

It was odd though...I had actually been wondering whether or not you'd really use codes that'd not work on a controller, because I could just sit there with left and right held and throw the exploding boomerangs. :lol:

...also, I seem to have found the POW and MOd codes (up up item for MOd, down down item for POW), but have yet to figure out what they actually do. :shock: I've tried them on players, every type of block, Yoshi, enemy projectiles...still haven't seen any effects besides the normal player killing though. I'm hearing that extra sound effect, so I'm pretty sure something different is supposed to happen... :?

"Up" is the jump button so you shouldn't have a problem.  All codes can be done using gamepads and joysticks.

Jeez, save some for others to find :)  That's 3 more points for you!  And for the POW and MOd blocks, the faster you mash turbo the longer the screenshake lasts (up to 1 second), during which time all blocks on the screen can be triggered or broken (Try it on a map with tons of breakable blocks for a cool effect).

While I was stomping my enemy many times (in domination mode) the yellow sledgehammer brother popped out.

Also, while playing classic game, the green one came after killing the enemy for many times.

For both games I was playing against one enemy, and I killed it withuot dying.

EDIT: I've tried out many times the fireball code and it doesn't work. What's exactly the roll down action? Everything else DOES work! :)

Oh, and by the way, what did you think about the difficulty of fighting him?  It was hard giving the mode the right balance.  I found that if you're fighting him by yourself (i.e. 2 players, but you just have the other player sit to the side), he is not too hard.  But if you have 4 players all going after him and trying to kill you at the same time, things get really tough.

Based on the fact that 4matsy unlocked this little "Hammer Bro Fight", I decided to do some research on the other brothers.

I played a nice while with a bot in three base domination. From what I gather, you get the brother to pop up after going from having no bases to all the bases, am I correct?

I haven't figured out the button code though. I've tried left-right-left-right-turbo-turbo, up-down-up-down-turbo-turbo, up-up-down-down-turbo-turbo, up-up-left-left-right-right-turbo-turbo and a couple other obscure ones but no luck. Any hints? ;_;

EDIT: Okay, so it doesn't pop up with the requirements I posted but it IS related to you gaining all the bases.

And I've pretty much exhausted my entire button code library. Time to move on to Stomp...

Actually, that's all there is too it.  Just get all the domination zones.  Link901 posted about this before but being extremely nit-picky, I didn't give it to him (he stated that the last zone needed to switch from one player to another).  I've given half credit to each of you.

The reason, you think there is more to it is because there is only a chance this will trigger the pop up.  It doesn't work every time.  Actually, none of the triggers for the popups work every time.  But each successful completion of the trigger gives you a chance of it happening.  And sorry no hints yet... keep looking, you're on the right track.  Quick!  Get it before 4matsy does! :)

Every kill after 10 will give you a chance and it is completely random.  So keep killing, he'll eventually pop up.

It's the Golden Podoboo, which is a single-use item, which shoots a bunch of podoboos in your color up in the air.

It's gonna turn out to be a fight between all the players for the powerup anyway (or at least whoever gets the last hit on the enemy, thus killing the other players and leaving them free to get the item), so...yeah, tougher the more players there are. I kinda had to cheat at first, giving myself a 5-second shield. :lol:

I've actually been trying the other two, but yeah, I haven't been able to figure out the codes either. :P Actually, it makes sense, since the red one is the most common one to pop up, and has the well-known code. (I'm surprised no one stumbled across this fight while trying to do the tanooki suit code...<_<)

XD Get this.  In the Red Sledgey fight, you can actually lose your last life as you kill the thing, leaving nobody to collect the won powerup.  Doesn't really mess anything up, it's just a kinda funny jip.

You should be able to press escape to exit the mode if that happens.  (there is a special check to make sure a human controlled player is alive to disable someone pressing that before you collect your powerup :)) Does it work?

And it takes a random amount of hits.  I think it is around 8 hits.

Thats basically what I've been doing but they move so I just get one to go between me and the other team. Thats not the problem its actually finding the code. If its not turbo turbo or any of the ones I've tried then I'm starting to think its not a button combo. I tried the ones I've previously mentioned and also multiple left,right,left right and right left right left ones.

I think our best shot is with doubles like left left right left and right left left right. If its not turbo try use item. If thats not it then maybe its not a button combo although I can't imagine what we can do in that amount of time.

I noticed that you can drop a shell instead of kicking it by holding down before you release it. Is this new, or was it already in 1.7? <_<

The one I know is new, though: tap down twice while holding the shell, and kick it, and it'll move at double speed, with a smoke trail behind it. :lol:

Red bro - Own enemies, preferably goombas, and the more you kill, the more often he shows up
NOTE FOR THIS ONE: Press / /,/ /,<>,<>,|Turbo| |Turbo| when he pops up to fight him. You will get the Golden Podoboo! (Or, at least, it's what I got the only time I beat him)

Green Bro - Own 2 goombas at once, set # =5, goombas ONLY
.:EDIT:. I think you may also have to kill 5 "anythings" (if that's even a word) in a row with  hammer. Not yet completely sure...

Yellow Bro - In domination, have all of the squares but one with any colors. Let someone else get it, wait a while, then you get it (the time of wait may vary). I did all of this with me against a useless player :lol:
NOTE FOR THIS ONE: It will not happen every time.

And, I figured out, all of the sledge bros. are possible to kill!
Press the code for the first bro whenever one pops up. I only know about the Golden Podoboo, so I'm not sure what else may pop up once you beat one of the other two. I looked in the GFX, and I found -- in the powerups -- a spike, sledgehammer, bomb (not Bob-Omb), and a spring. What goes to what? I don't know.

Also something I noticed, in the GFX, Two52 added more bowser fire. Why? Hmm....

And also once more, I found 4 colors of Superfire (the red was put in there twice), 5 colors of bombs, and 5 colors of sledgehammer, all with team colors in the projectiles. That means they must be powerups too!

And my very last thing to say is: how do you unlock the red throw bricks?

Awesome.  That one is one of my favorites.  You could drop shells and other items before by pressing down and letting go of turbo.

Actually, the spike code has nothing to do with the yellow sledgehammer brother.

I can activate it at anytime during domination mode without any set condition. So that means the yellow sledgehamer brother has another code which supposedly should lead to another boss battle...

Also, in a 4-player game at least, whenever I grab all bases the yellow uy pops up, and if another guy grabs one of my bases and then I quickly relocate ¡t, again it pops up. That's not the case within a 2-player game. Haven't tested in a 3-player game. Only in domination mode!

No offense but that point wouldn't put you close to kind pointy over there. I tried quite a few combinations for sledge brother yellow and none worked. I would think its the same number of buttons as the other brother but the combination could be anything.

Also I can't seem to get the super throw for shells to work and I got it to work once for blocks. Maybe I'm not pressing it right or something... down down release right? Also the spike also only appears sometimes. Most likely me I guess.

Codes are 7 keypresses long.
This might make you think there are 6^7 = 279936 combinations, but have any of the other codes you've found seem completely random?  Would you expect the code to be up, turbo, right, down, use item, turbo, right?

I know that the spike one works but is there anything to the super throw because it doesn't seem to work all the time. Can you give me any sort of timing? You could maybe use a period as a half second. So like back.back.right..turbo would be what I would say for the hammer one.

Also I've been toying around with the bob-omb and so far I haven't gotten anything. Does it involve it beginning to blow up or puff up or something because thats what I would do. They have been known to do that in games.

I need this to be cleared up: The red brother code is only six presses long. Yet you say the codes are seven. Does that mean the other two brothers have longer codes or was it simply a mistake on your part?

Yeah, 4matsy found a lot of stuff fast!  If he wins, I'd say he deserves it.

To clarify, yes I meant 7 buttons.  The easy brother got the easy code... :)

And there aren't any pauses, but for all these codes, you must "clear" the code first.  What I'm saying is that if you're trying to do the hammer move and through just playing the game your last keypress was left.  Then you try and pull off the move by pressing left, left, right + turbo, it won't work.  That is because the keycode entry started with the first left you did so it was left (matched code), left (matched code), left (didn't match code), right + turbo (code started over and didn't match left).  So to get the hammer to work every time, press forward (or jump or down or item use or turbo), then press back, back, forward + turbo and it will work every time.  Same goes for all the other codes.

And a see-through powerup block?!  That's interesting...

Actually, I want to rectify what I've previously said about the see-through powerup block. It is obviously found in Super Mario World, in Forest of Illusion 1 (to put an example), but it does not interchange objects at a fast rate. It rather takes a full second in between objects.

The interchange queue for thetransparent block is: Mushroom - Flower - Feather - Star. One by one in 1 second.

Although for this case, if such object was meant to be implemented or is already implemented, it should loop around every possible stored object.

Then again, if the image is there I'm rather suspicious about it being a secret. But I suck big time at finding secrets. :P

Added discovery onto the spikeblock.  It CAN be spawned more than one time per match.  In fact, you can have up to FOUR per match!  Using each individual player's controls, you can spawn a separate spikeblock for each player.

That makes sense. If you want to add stuff like that then I guess it would be reasonable to say that bots can enter these codes too, they just have to be in the right situation for them to press it. So you could have a bot using triple hammers or homing bullet bills. (It makes sense that they could do it, they're basically player spots filled in by computer controls.)

You have to get close to him without actually dying, then activate the bob-omb item and have the explode radius hit him. Repeat this process several times (5 or 6 I guess) and its done.

After defeating the sledgehammer brother, you can have the chance to grad the golden poddobo for use in normal gameplay.

Oh, I see.  Well, yes, that would screw things up.  The reason I was able to develop AFE so fast is that the sledge brother doesn't have any map collision detection.  He just assumes he has a platform under him and acts like there is.  That's cheating I know, but that way I didn't have to touch the collision detection engine, which would have required a lot of testing to create a stable release.

And yes, you must kill the Flame Brother with bob-omb explosions.  And actually, there is another, safer way that no one has found yet...

In any mode, just rack up a good bit of kills without dying and he'll show in the corner eventually.  When he does, put in the code and it'll take ya to the fight.  Beatin' him is up to you, though.  Can't do that for ya. :lol:

I fought him a few times but beating him is pretty hard. You have to be both calm and frantic at the same time. Accurate in timing and movement and mainly, lucky.

So nothing new? Maybe its time for a hint. I don't think we're getting anywhere.

Fireball is just some move you can do when you have a fire flower. Its a little tricky to do at times but after some practice you can figure out the timing.

No one knows about the see-though block but its worth 2 points.

Previously I've failed at M.U.G.E.N., the RPG maker series, and just life in general. So I'm just happy with being capable of contributing something even if its just an idea or a comment.

I was trying to emphasize the fact that using button codes is an extremely hard way of trying to unlock secrets when you've got little to no clues at all. I'm mostly in it to get the secrets, in particular, the other hammer brother fights, which was what brought me unto this quest in the first place. I wasn't particularly in it for the points. (Though knowing that there was only one secret left in the one pointers did tempt me admittedly) However, getting the hammer brothers fights and the rest of the secrets looks like it'll be a major exercise in futility as even if the button combinations aren't necessarily random, there's still literally over ten thousand combinations since there seems to be no real pattern or theme to the button combinations. It would take months to find them unless you have some extremely large amount of luck and if you had that much luck, you probably wouldn't be playing this game anyways. (Then again, I did get the spike item by sheer luck of the press...)

...then again, maybe Two wants us to take months for us to discover them all, so he can stall for time and not work on SMWar 1.8. D: Lazy goomba. *shot*

I think all the items are pretty much done. Notice how the entirity of the 1 point menu is made up of codes used with old items. The majority of the 2 point menu I would assume are difficult codes you need lots of lot and skill with. And of course we got the mighty brothers. This will probably take a very, very long time to fill out now...

Aww, man... that's gotta be the coolest bug this thing has... I use the Tanooki to get height like that when I need to.  Sometimes I'll just turn to the statue and back really fast just for laughs... looks like a Tanooki Rocket takin' off. :lol:

But still. i died 100+ times. thats the only reason why their were so many spikes. in a normal match where you only have 10 lives, and lets just say that only 2 people know the code, that would be a max of 20 spikes. not that big of a deal.

Sounds like all you need is an extra if somewhere in the player code. I think its important, as far as i know, spikes wouldn't kill you in a mario game if you had a star.

Yes they are carryable but you can't use them as weapons while you're carrying them like shells. You need a bit of timing and luck to kill with a spike rather than just ramming power with a shell.

And about the see through block code...what I did was that I was fooling around with a note block once, I was holding down abusing the super jump code. I held down the entire time, pressing up every 2-3 seconds for about three times before inputting something like "Turbo-Left-Up", similar to the spike code I guess and bam, there it was. However, the exact code still lies undiscovered...

I feel that invincibility and the Tanooki statue should protect you from it like they do with regular spikes.  The inability to attack from below I think should be changed, too.  And a spawn limit on 'em wouldn't be that bad either, but it's not really necessary.
On the topic of the See-Through Item Block - I'd like to know more details about this.  I mean, if it's just there for visual effect, I hope it turns over from match to match like the Golden Podobo.  Otherwise, it seems like more trouble than it's worth.  Sure you can see what you're getting, but that's about the only advantage... oh well, maybe I'm just bein' picky.

I've already found out. The note block I mentioned in my description of of the see through item block code was in fact, the spring. It truly is like a note block in every single way, down to the sounds. The only difference is looks and the portability.

one thing that i think should be changed with the tanook is that you can have boomerang or hammer or whatever and still have the tanooki... but with the cape you have to switch between the two... get what i mean? i think the tanooki should be its own powerup kind of like the cape cuz if it wouldnt be you can be uber and kill everyone with explodin boomerangs and tanooki (kill if someone gets near and hide if someones rdy to jump on you)

I think i know what that boomerang sound is... i dont think its him laughing, its just gives us time for us to blow him up (like with most bosses)

Two52 had to make these guys beatable, so its he made the koopa bro do something that has the boomerang sound which gives you a chance to blow him up!

I'll tell you, what is easiest way to beat red sledge bro. Walk on lamps. Get bom-omb and stand above him on one of two 2nd-highest lamps. When he will jump (to summon podobos) explode! You can hit him, and he can't hit you (don't let your guard down, after boomerang sound, his fireball has longer range and it can hit you even on this lamp and podobo can jump that high too, but then you can jump on other lamp)

Not in that case.  The spring and spike block parts of the souls graphic are for when they're spawned into the level.  There's a ring of small versions of the image that show up, like with Goombas and Koopas from Stomp.

That was all I needed.

When the Green Sledge Brother pops up onb screen, press Down-Up-Left-Right-Turbo-Turbo-Use Item to enter the boss battle!

To defeat the Mighty Sledge Brother, use the wandering koopas to attack him on his platform. He throws dangerous hammers that even destroy the koopas and has a deadly earthquake jump, jump the moment he does!

Once you've beaten him, you get the Sledge item. It acts like the normal hammer item but it larger and breaks into multiple, smaller hammers upon contact, killing anything within range. Note that you cannot use the Back-Back-Forward-Turbo combo with the sledge item like you can with the hammer.

If you want to beat Red Sledge, play on stomp in map with [?] block and set player-player-none-none
Don't play with 2nd player, just you. Wait, until over 10 creatures will spawn. Take some weapon. KILL THEM ALL! Go to boss level. Don't move with 2nd player (only if he is on the bridge and accidentaly got bob-omb, then you can hit sledge). Stand on lamps. If bob-omb is under lamps, don't go down. Wait, until it's move. Then take this. Wait on lamp. Explode when he jumps. Then escape on other lamp if podobo jumps that high. Repeat this until you kill him.

P.S. I played with CPUs 1 time and sometimes they are doing damage to him accidentally...
Two52: Fix that! All players should be in the same team when fighting him!

Yes! I noticed that bug too, in one of my maps which used to look proper, but now has waterfall on the top layer...hiding the fact that there are spikes.

WTF? I accidentally got view-through-item block! What I only remember is there's no turbo and no use item in code. And it has a few ups and downs (I jumped from 1 warp to another... Sometimes I had to use left or right)

And I'm not sure about that, but it has hold "up" at the end...

Ok, things have cooled off, which isn't too surprising since the only things left to find are pretty tough.  So here are a few hints:

1) See-through powerup block has 7 keys in the code and they are only directions.  To keep trying different codes, press turbo inbeween each attempt to clear the code buffer.

2) There is another code that is 8 keys long that is also only directions

3) The yellow sledge brother code is 7 keys long, all directions except the last key ending in "use item".

Mighty Bomb Bro - jump jump left right down down use item!
He's a bomb-wielding baddie with a stomp that brings the thwomp!
To fight him, give him a taste of his own medicine and throw the bombs back at him!
Beat him, and get the Super Bomb!
To use it, press the use item button, then wield the powerup as normal.
The bombs take a few seconds to go off, but they have the strength of a bobomb!  However, you can only throw 2 out at a time.

Awesomeness. We're nearing the end! What do you get for beating him?

Well apparently he is also not suprisingly amazingly hard. The thwomps are a cinch to dodge but the bombs blow up so quickly that its hard to throw them back. Not to mention the amount of them he throws so that one blows up before you can get the other. I could only hit him 2 times.

I know the code ends in Up or Down, I definitely know it does. On every account of finding the block, I never touched left or right since near the beginning of the code. However, I've tried about 100+ codes with no luck...

I tried quite a few but also no luck. from most accounts I'd say it ends with up but it could quite possibly be a down. How do we find out if it worked. Is there a noise and you need to hit the block? Or does it just take effect?

if its not ONLY using ups and downs considering thats been done I believe then there are probably 3 lefts and/or rights. This is just a guess though.

However, after trying the entire string out, picking out obvious codes and even doing the entire string as 8 key codes on a key by key basis, I still can't get it to work again so either my method doesn't work quite as well as I thought or the code is more complicated than that...

Meh, I think I'm done trying to find codes now. After a whole slew of codes trying to find that one, it kind of discourages me that I still couldn't find it period. Besides, there's not many secrets left, and all the boss battles were found. I'm happy. :P

About 8-direction only code... I can say that:

Let's say that each button is any number from 1 to 4...

I tried and those combinations won't work: 11223344(for example: up,up,right,right,down,down,left,left) 12341234, 11223434
I tried all combinations with this method... If you gonna search for this code so remember what Two52 said: the code are never random!

And that code that can be used only in stomp it's a code for red koopa.

About red throwable block: I guess the code works only in maps with blue blocks... Then, they turning into red and get more power... Maybe when it can kill multiply enemies? We'll see when some1 will find that code

I think at this point we should all know what the codes are like by now. The direction codes are not random, however, they are not obvious either! Stuff like ULRDULRD isn't gonna get you anywhere. Be creative, A code like ULLDRRUD or LURUDRDL might get you somewhere.

Yeah, I considered doing it that way, but the way the powerups are drawn, it wouldn't have looked right.  There is a gfx optimization going on there and the powerup won't look like it is coming out of the box.  I might fix it in the next release.

Maybe not the same exact code but the same type of sequence is used over and over and over. It makes things a lot more confusing.

Double post but that's hardly important. I found the red blue block code...kinda.

I found it by accident, punching in a lot of directions going mad from the computers abusing blue blocks. After a few more tries I got this down pat:



What the "Red Block" does is that it acts like a Red Shell, it'll bounce off walls and plow through multiple targets. It's particularly fun to use combined with the Down Down special.

EDIT: This is a big speculation thing on my part but I believe the code might have 3 Ups, 2 Rights and Downs and 1 Left. It's just a matter of finding the right combination...

I found the red Koopa code in Stomp, but I can't remember what I pressed to get it. x_x However, I think this clarifies all the secrets in the game now. I really wish I could get these codes but I really don't think I'm meant for it now because even after pressing all the directions I can clearly remember it never works.

But think about the smaller one... It's not displaying anywhere... I guess the small is the icon for Sledge Mode... Which means that code for it must be entered in menu! And I guess you'll be battle them: one after another or it select random sledge to fight!

And by the way guys, thanks but I doubt I'll ever have the tenacity and patience to find the last two codes, I found the spike block code by total accident and green sledge brother came because I had a LOT of easy clues. The rest of my points only came because I helped people. Since I've done what I came here for I'm happy and I don't mind if 4matsy wins really. I would just like the rest of these secrets found so we can get a new release a bit sooner. =P

Although is a cool idea I can't help but want to kill Two52 for this. Its fun but the method of finding things are so old school. This is 2007 come up with a better way! I mean not that this isn't a cool idea but its too much luck and/or time and not enough skill.

I think a better way of getting these things would be skill related. For instance if you kill a certain amount of people in a row with the hammer you get the upgrade 3-way hammer. Rather than having some difficult to find obscure codes. Maybe instead of appearing and creeping the hell out of me you get to fight the koopa bros. by hitting them when they appear rather than figuring out some rediculous code.

Its not that I don't like what you did here its awesome really but I just think that it rewards people the wrong way. I mean its all about who gets lucky or has the most time to waste. The only reason this way of doing things is fun is because of nostalgia and for the same reason gambling is fun.

Well, Hopefully you won't have to fight or enter codes for those items, and the Sledge Bros. will be in a seperate mode (Boss mode) that you can select at the mode select screen in 1.8. Still, Things like the flight cape, exploding boomerang, and the super fireball will probably either still have codes, or be removed alltogether.

Yeah, I supose I could have made some of the secrets rewards based.  I was going for the old school "enter the secret code" style secrets and you guys did a great job of finding everything but the last two.  Should I just give the codes out and call the contest over?

From the 5 downs hint I have you, here is some extra info: it starts with down down.  From here, there are 540 combinations to try.  Maybe split them up between you guys?

And from the up, down hint I have you, that pattern is in the 8 key code 3 times.  From that, there are 160 combinations to try.

To give you guys a little taste of what this involves, Jared and I started going through the suggestions.  We spent over 3 hours and we got through members A-C and about 120 suggestions.  Each suggestion needs to be weighed for feasibility, uniqueness, and fun-factor which takes a hell of a long time.  This is why we have closed down the suggestions thread.  We take our fan-made suggestions seriously as this is definitely a community driven game, but just dumping your head out on the suggestions thread without thinking through the feature, well, it costs us time.  Didn't mean for this to turn into a rant, but just a view into what goes on behind the scenes.  Please remember that when you post your "When does 1.8 come out?" :Graz:

Hahaha, haha, NO.
Adding Kirby's abilities would take months, even years to complete, due to the usual phases which take place during feature-implenting. The entire game is written in C++, so it would also be extremely hard, if not impossible, to do.

I tried to get the tanooki i used up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, fire (is fire same as turbo?), use item, pause. when i unpause (i don't hear any sound) i go to a question block jumped at it and i didn't get anything special... i got a hammer.....

There's another turbo at the end, no pause (yes, fire is the same as turbo). That means, you entered the wrong code. Just try again.

You can't pause the game while entering those codes; which is kind of ridiculous for most of them with the memorizing, etc.
