Title: Super Mario War 1.7 Released!
Post by: Two52 on December 16, 2006, 06:13:24 AM
Well, it is finally done!  There aren't too many differences between RC2 and the final, mainly bug fixes, a few more maps and skins and sgraff87's complete gfx overhaul.  It looks fantastic!

We currently have a PC, Xbox, Mac, Linux and PSP build with more ports on the way.  Download them here:

Back.

I noticed my menu screen, albeit not finished, was edited and the concept was used with NO permission of my own in the main theme.

Yeah, not happy.

I believe that the only real similarities here are having backgrounds in the boxes, and using the same font.  (I am looking at the Team and Character Selection screen - is that what you are talking about?)  It seems to me that it was not edited so much as used as a reference.  (Sg does say in the relevant topic that he did copy/paste the font, but that seems to be as far as it goes.)

But since Sgraff made the graphics pack, and Two52 is ultimately in charge of the whole thing, I think we need them to comment.
Title:
Post by: Sgraff87 on December 17, 2006, 06:31:34 PM
Only thing taken was the font (I think). I can easily make my own and any trace of your help graphic-wise will be gone. Nothing to made a bit fart about.

As for the team selection screen, no editing was done. I took snapshots and made my own silhouette styled version with my own coloring. The borders are from SMB3.

The rest of the menus (the pipes) were influenced from NSMB. I do not think I needed permission to a simple concept such as yours. I also had a lot on it in the thread for this. You should have mentioned something then. But chances are that you did not pay enough attention to notice.

There needs to be a Lite version of SMW! I hope anti-dial-up users do not start the flamewars again.

Sgraff: Yeah, it's not that big of a deal as long as you redo it. I get pissy about that stuff because I've had a big problem with it before, but just change it and it's all good.

Didn't mean to come out like such a jerk. Please redo it, however, at least the font.

Oh yes, you're right.  No, there isn't anyone else working on the PSP port.  I sent out an email to a bunch of people that ported to different platforms, but you are active in our forums, so I didn't send one to you.  Sorry for the confusion.

It's probably possible, but who would stoop so low as to do it?

(Kidding.  :P  In seriousness, you'd probably have to ask elsewhere - I'm willing to bet that nobody here really knows anything about the N-Gage.)

Post by: Tiptup300 on January 04, 2007, 05:29:27 PM
XNA, that would be worth it! lol, all the code would have to be redone in C# and converted from SDL to XNA (Directx), SMW on 360 would be great thou
Title:
Post by: Athiril on January 07, 2007, 10:12:09 PM
No to run XNA games on X-Box 360 you need to be part of the X-Box Live thing and get them from the marketplace, small cost per year (like $80 i think), plus you need a hard drive for your 360.

The best option is to compile a Linux PPC build (currently I only see an x86 build), and then users can run it with a compatible PPC Linux distro on their X-Box 360 (as long as they have all the libs on the Linux distro like SDL and others).

That would also work for PS3.
Title:
Post by: Tiptup300 on January 07, 2007, 10:59:40 PM
First off, there is no linux for xbox 360.

Secondly Its called the XNA Developers Club, which is a complete ripoff at the time being. The marketplace has no xna related things, except for the XNA Launcher which launches the game, but it only works if your in the club.

FC5, Gentoo and Yellowdog all are confirmed operational on a PS3, it's essentially the same hard ware as an Xbox 360 with half of the ram (360 has UMA, 512MB single pool).

http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep ... xHIyTS.php (http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEyZyFuFZuIAxHIyTS.php)

PS3 Already has Linux distro's running thus, will be able to be able to get OS X running.

http://www.macobserver.com/article/2006/06/09.5.shtml (http://www.macobserver.com/article/2006/06/09.5.shtml)

X-Box 360 will be able to get OS X running on it, and thus also Linux, though it's likely someone will get Linux running first.
Title:
Post by: Tiptup300 on January 08, 2007, 04:10:51 PM
I've seen the video, but Linux wont be operational for months, the PS3, nobody really cares about at all. And the 360 in graphics would be not half, but about 90/100 of the ps3, but in performance and efficiency, ps3 is at 60/100 compared to 360.

Yep sure am, lots of good features gonna come out of it too. Ones that you people don't expect, truth be told, I've decided that you MUST download the software I created in order to upload maps. Fortunately, I made a version that doesn't need .NET, and could very easily be converted to Linux and Mac. (need a C# coder who has cross-platform experience)

That's because this is an old version, and I believe that the hosting has expired for them. I see that you have found the topic for the latest version, so I'll just lock this to prevent further bumps.
